Activity A: Research Identity: Measurement and Assessment

This IGE project draws upon well-established social and psychological theories of identity and uses a mixed-method social science research design to identify the content, character, and complications associated with efforts to develop RI among graduate students in general and students from underrepresented groups in particular.

Using focus groups and web-based questionnaires we develop and assess a valid and reliable survey-based scale measure of REI. The REI scale was developed in the first year of the IGE project and provides a basis for both formative and summative assessments of the impact our IGE activities have on students, faculty, and the broader campus community.
